Theory, aural and musicianship

All lessons I teach incorporate elements of Music Theory, Aural Awareness and Practical Musicianship, as an understanding of these is a fundamental building-block of all music-making. I am also able to teach these as separate subjects for examination purposes up to grade 8 if required.

Intensive Theory Course

I run intensive music theory courses to prepare for the ABRSM Grade 5 theory exam, which is a qualification required by the ABRSM before higher grades of practical exams may be sat. Each term's exam will be preceded by a two-day kickstarter course before the academic term starts, and then a revision course will be held in the half term immediately before the exam.

Both courses comprise two days of teaching from 10am to 4.30pm, with all books, stationery and materials provided, plus support by e-mail or text following the course for any remaining queries, and marking and feedback of up to 8 practice papers before the exam is taken.

Each two-day course costs £130, and the Grade 5 Theory exam entry may be added to the package for an extra £40.
