My musical background

I can't remember starting to sing, but I can remember when I started to learn recorder - my sixth birthday - and flute - when I was ten. Learning music has been one of my great pleasures in life.

My qualifications include the Licentiate Diploma from Trinity College London and two Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Diplomas in the Principles of Instrumental and Vocal Teaching. I continue to take lessons and attend courses for my own professional development, so that my teaching is informed by up-to-date research and ideas.

Over the years I have been fortunate enough to be taught by some brilliant teachers. These include

Wynford Evans (Singing)

Jane Streeton (Singing)

Clive Conway (Flute)

Ros Fox (Flute and Recorder)

I've also participated in masterclasses with some inspirational people including

Wissam Boustany (Flute)

Wendy Nieper (Singing)

Sarah Leonard (Singing)

Graham Trew (Singing)

Sanni Luis (Musical Theatre)

Paul Arden-Griffith and Pam Smith (Singing and Musical Theatre).

To keep my own musical skills alive, I continue to perform regularly. I am a member of Thames Valley Recorder Orchestra, I sing in the Belle Epoque duo with flautist Ros Fox and in the Altissimi Ensemble with clarinettist Barry Sullivan flautist Ros Fox and pianist Derek Canfield, and play with the Clapham Omnibus Recorder Quintet.

I am also a regular soprano soloist at churches in the Egham area.
